Moeen Ali Lends Support to Portable Defibrillator Distribution Scheme

Having successfully supplied close to 200 portable defibrillators over the last 2 years, to cricket clubs and teams across the UK, The Club Cricket Charity and ECB are delighted to announce that a further sum of £30,000 has been made available to the NACC as part of Phase Two of this unique and life-saving project.

Gulfraz Riaz (Chairman of the NACC) said that he was delighted that the NACC were once again in a position to help facilitate the application process for the South Asian Cricketing Community nationally and urged clubs and teams to apply immediately, via e-mail.

He went on to express his sincere gratitude to the ECB and Robbie Book, Trustee of the Club Cricket Charity, as well as Moeen Ali for his support in highlighting the
importance of this programme.

The receipt of this additional funding will allow the NACC to select and distribute this potentially life-saving equipment and training to a further 30 teams/clubs, totally free of charge, in 2020 – adding to the 67 units provided free of charge, in 2018.

It is a sad fact that cardiac arrest is one of the major causes of death at cricket matches. From the time of the heart stoppage to medical help arriving, the only way to keep a victim alive is by a combination of CPR techniques and the use of the defibrillator unit. The unit needs to be deployed within 5 minutes of the occurrence before the danger of the lack of blood to the brain can cause irreparable damage.

The unit fits into a kit bag and can be utilised immediately and effectively, giving instructions to the user on what to do and when.

One team member will be required to take responsibility for the unit and its regular monthly monitoring, reporting back to the suppliers that the unit is in good working order.

In the first instance, teams/clubs interested in being considered for this round of defibrillator distribution should apply to the NACC by email at info@nacc.co
