ECB – NACC Coach Development Programme – By Yusuf Karolia

Whilst great strides have been taken with the ECB’s South Asian Cricketing Community (SACC) Action Plan the evidence and statistics confirm that anything between 30-40% of all recreational cricket in England & Wales is played by the community and only 4% then go on to have a prolonged career at a professional County. Whilst a strategy is set in place and great progress is being made to improve this percentage, the figures for amateur or professional coaches from the SACC be they male or female, remain low compared to their traditional cricketing counterparts.

The SACC have ambitious people from within the community who would like to start or develop further their coaching journeys and we are delighted to confirm that the ECB have agreed to support a coaching programme in association with the NACC. This is an incredibly significant step and one that we are extremely grateful of and delighted to be able to help develop further. The message now is for any SACC set-ups who have people with ambitions, male or female to contact the NACC, as we would welcome dialogue and eventual application for accredited coaching programme funded through the ECB and NACC initiative.

We appreciate that this is an incredibly important and significant development which now gives the SACC and their aspiring coaches the opportunity to be supported from the community coaches, taking their first steps to the existing coaches wanting to advance or CPD development opportunities.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank John Neal at the ECB who has shown great faith in reaching out to us as we now help support and build on the development of coaches from the SACC.
